In this two-day class, you will develop the knowledge and practical skill needed to set up, deploy, and maintain payShield Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) and maximize the value of these devices for your organization. Designed for system administrators and application developers with a basic understanding of cryptography and key management, this class covers the role played by the payShield family of payment HSMs in securing transactions for financial applications along with best practices for rolling out these devices in your organization.

In hands-on sessions, you will master common installation and administration tasks that prepare you to set up, use, and manage payShield HSM devices in your own environment—from taking the device out of the box to configuring a fully functional system. Topics include configuration, installation, key management, smart card management, disaster recovery, and maintenance. Each attendee who completes the course will receive a certificate of attendance.

The course is based on operational and key management duties using Local HSM Manager to access the latest Thales payments HSM - payShield 9000. Approved to the most stringent security standards, the Thales HSM is a physically secure, tamper-resistant security server that provides cryptographic functions to secure transactions in fi nancial applications including PIN encryption and verifi cation, PIN block translation, debit card validation, stored value card issuing and processing, chip card issuing and processing, message authentication and symmetric key management. With the optional RSA license, the HSM can also support public key cryptographic operations including digital signatures, certificates and asymmetric key management."

Thales payShield 9000 is a hardware security (HSM) payment module that provides the cryptographic protection required for ATM, point of sale (POS), credit and debit card issuance, and processing Of transactions. Encryption and management functionality meets or exceeds the operational and security requirements of the major international card system, including American Express, Discover, JCB, MasterCard, UnionPay and Visa. It is deployed as an external peripheral for mainframes and servers running card issuance applications, mobile platform provisioning, and payment processing software for the electronic payment industry.
